Ukraine is now using 30 robot dogs from the UK with German thermal camouflage in combat in Donetsk region.
Robots are directed by the operator, they search buildings or Russian trenches.
- The robodogs have video cameras, which helps to scout the surroundings, detect traps and the movement of Russian troops.
- The robots move silently across the battlefield within a radius of 3.5 km and speed up to 15 km/h.
- They have enough power to be scouting for 5 hours.
- The thermal camouflage makes them practically invisible.
The robodogs are another addition to the army of aerial and naval drones successfully used by the Ukrainian defenders against the Russian army, which is struggling to keep up with warfare innovations.
Tanks are expensive and their life on the modern battlefield is very short.
Armored personnel carriers are more in demand and remain useful, as people still need to move around, to take positions.
The problem of modern tanks is their thin armor at the top, which makes them vulnerable to drone attacks. But if the tanks are reinforced at the top, this would improve their survival on the battlefield, making them able to withstand both drone and missile hits.
The next generation of tanks might become a mighty force once again.
