“Okay, seriously… Let me take a second to explain what’s happening in this picture. This man—Van—just got me a little emotional. I was shopping for last-minute pencils and band-aids that my kids needed for our classroom.
As I was checking out, he asked if I was a teacher. I proudly told him I work at George Kelly, and he said, ‘Listen, I’m paying for this.’ Like, how could you not tear up? It’s the end of the month, and any teacher knows how tough it is waiting for payday—plus waiting to get reimbursed for classroom supplies.
It was pure divine timing that I ended up in line behind such a kind and generous man. He used to work for Hayward Unified and is now a private chef.
If there’s any way to connect his career with my class, he’d be the first person I’d invite! There really are good-hearted people out there. Thank you, Van, for paying it forward.”
