I went back to work today. I forgot my pass, so I had to lock my bike outside Cannon Street station. When I finished work at 6pm and came out, all I found was my lock on the ground—cut in half. My bike was gone. I felt heartbroken and thought I’d never see it again. I went to ask the station if they had security cameras.
Just then, a man waved me over. He asked me to put the code into the broken lock. Then he smiled and said, “I have your bike.”
His name is Abdul Muneeb, and he works for South Eastern Railways. He had seen someone cutting the lock during his break. He stepped in, stopped the thief, and took the bike inside to keep it safe. But it doesn’t stop there—Abdul stayed at work four hours after his shift ended just to make sure I got my bike back.
I will never forget his kindness or that smile. The world needs more people like Abdul. He’s a real hero and a credit to his team.
