Every morning, I would find her asleep on my porch furniture

Every morning, I would find her asleep on my porch furniture, and as soon as I opened the door to grab the paper, she’d take off. I often saw her around the neighborhood, and many times, she’d come close as if she wanted to be petted, but as soon as I got near, she’d run away. I was pretty sure she had once belonged to a family up the street, but when they got a dog, the four cats they had all left. I’d seen the dog chase the cats on several occasions.

One very hot summer day, while I was working in the yard, I saw the dog chase her under my car. She looked so thin and hungry. I had started calling her PC for “Porch Cat,” and that day, I shared some tuna with her and brought her water. After that, she began visiting more often, hoping for food. I bought some cheap dry cat food and left it on the porch for her.

As the weather turned cooler, she started tentatively coming into the house. Not long after, she became a permanent fixture in our home! That was three years ago, and PC is now a wonderful addition to our family—a loving cat who prefers the indoors during the cold winter months!
