In fact, it is not even in the top five rankings.
There are at least five animals that I think deserve to be called fearless. By the way, even in the animal world, there is a difference between being fearless and being stupid.
Here are some brave animals that immediately come to mind:
Polar bear (photo from Google Images): Never mind moose, tigers, whales, dolphins, humans… If it can smell another animal, it’s going to eat it! Go into the ocean, it might follow. Walk miles away, it might follow. You get the idea, right? This is the definition of an apex predator. If you’re in its territory, and you don’t look any bigger than it, you’re probably on its menu. If YOU do look bigger, well, you’re probably safe. As far as I know, the Kodiak Brown Bear (the brown one) is the only animal that can make a Polar Bear move away.
So, speaking of Kodiak Brown Bears…
Kodiak Grizzly Bear (photo from Google Images): Kodiak Grizzly Bears do not target prey as large as Polar Bears, and humans are rarely their main food. But, when it’s not salmon season, Grizzlies aren’t too picky about their food, and as far as I know, they’re not afraid of other animals.
Male African Elephant (photo from Google Images): A healthy male African elephant has no natural predators, except for cunning, sly, and murderous humans. A calf may be eaten by a lion, or attacked by an occasional hippo or crocodile, but all bow before the king. The largest land mammal on Earth is fearless, even though he is not aggressive by nature, except during musth (aggressive mating season).
Sperm Whale (photo from Google Images): The largest animal on Earth, possibly ever, is a whale, specifically the Blue Whale. However, the Sperm Whale is a close competitor in terms of size, and the largest toothed animal known to us. Back in the days of whaling, Sperm Whales were said to be the reason many ships never returned to port. These creatures can eat anything they want in the ocean, and they often have scars from epic battles with giant squid. They are intelligent enough to be very distrustful of humans and our ships, but there is nothing to scare them in their natural environment. As far as I know, they have no concept of fear at all.
Honey Bee (photo from Google Images): Lastly, there’s the humble Honey Bee. You might be wondering, how can these little insects be brave? Well, when they sting you, they die. And if you’ve ever threatened their nest, you know they won’t hesitate to risk their lives and sting you, even if it’s fatal. They don’t hesitate if the situation demands it. Even people who know and are familiar with them know better than to euthanize the bees before they approach their nest. If sacrificing yourself for the sake of your community isn’t brave, I can’t think of a better example.
Yes, that’s it! Your upvotes and comments are greatly appreciated!
