A restaurant in Madrid, Spain in 1965 and we see three young men enjoying a meal. On the left is Charles Bronson who is filming the movie, Battle of The Bulge. The dusty plains and arid territory of the shoot filled in for the wooded areas of the actual battle scenes which helped lead to the critical mauling of the movie. But I loved it.

To the right is Clint Eastwood, who seemed to be caught unaware, filming, For a Few Dollars More. The irony was that director Sergio Leone had earlier offered Bronson the part of the Man With No Name, who turned it down and then Clint accepted it.

The character in the middle its worthy of note too. Steve Rowland, A nephew of Louis B Mayer he was an actor who appeared in numerous shows of the time, Bonanza, Wanted dead or Alive, Life and Times of Wyatt Earp and more. He had a small role in Battle of the Bulge. He was also a talented singer and while in Spain had a successful career enjoying several chart hits.

He later went to England where he discovered Peter Frampton. He produced all the hits for Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich – check out The Legend of Zanadu, one of the best of that period. He had a hit with his own group The Family Dogg.

He produced P.J. Proby, Pretty Things, Jerry Lee Lewis, for which Jerry was awarded a Gold Disc. He later discovered The Thompson Twins, The Cure, managed Japan and and Boney M.

Charles and Clint later that same year both appeared in an episode of Rawhide.
