While we were waiting to eat in Hattiesburg tonight

While we were waiting to eat in Hattiesburg tonight, my little one noticed an Army soldier. As he was walking in, she quietly said, “Thank you for your service,” but he didn’t hear her.

When he came back out, she got shy, so I told him, “Sir, I don’t think you heard her earlier, but she said thank you for your service!” He smiled, thanked her, and seemed really grateful. Then he walked to his car and got in.

But then, he got back out, came up to Macie, and asked if she could hold something for him. He pointed to his right arm, where he had a 🇺🇸 pin, and asked her to take it off and hold on to it. Y’all, it gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes!

I always try to teach my kids to thank people in uniform whenever they see them.
