A recent photo of Wendy Williams at her son’s graduation ceremony kind of got to me. She’s only sixty and already senile and incapable of communicating. She was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia — she’s been going senile since at least her late fifties.
Before her diagnosis, Williams kept making increasingly weird gaffes, sometimes saying things that were rather vicious and mean. The common theory seemed to be that the host of the Wendy Williams Shows just wasn’t a very nice person. Perhaps she wasn’t. But I remember similar statements being made about Bruce Willis before his diagnosis, as well — that he was mean, lazy, a bad actor who just phoned-in his performances for the last few years… no one suspected that the real reason was a debilitating brain disease that kept getting worse and worse until he was robbed of his ability to communicate entirely.
Wendy Williams has not been seen in public in years. She’s been under a conservatorship. In the December 2024 photo she’s dressed to the nines, sitting in a mobility scooter. She’s worth millions, and she’d probably give it all just to tell her son she’s proud. But she can’t talk. Health truly is wealth, and we usually don’t appreciate it until it slips through our fingers…
