That (up to about 70 or 75) the vast majority of problems people attribute to ageing are really due to lack of exercise.
The number of people I know who are around my age (60) who say things like “I’m getting old, I can’t open jars or carry shopping the way I used to.” It’s not age, it’s loss of strength due to lack of exercise!
I have two groups of friends, my old professional crowd from work, and the people I train with. The difference in ability to simply ‘do stuff’ between the two groups is extraordinary, as well as the level of ‘age related illness.’
I’m not saying you can totally prevent aging through exercise, but you can push the impacts out by decades with a solid amount of strength and aerobic exercise. Pic below is me last week at 60.
