Today is a special day. The first day of the rest of his life. He doesn’t know it yet, but this car ride, safely strapped in his seat, marks the end of his lonely days and the beginning of a new chapter filled with love.
I saw him at the shelter, curled up in the corner of his cage, his wide eyes filled with hope but also fear. He had been abandoned, left alone, not understanding why. But today, he’s leaving with me. Today, he’s going home.
His tiny heart is racing, his eyes scanning everything with curiosity, wondering what happens next. He doesn’t know yet that once he steps through that door, he will never be alone again.
