Today, an older man asked me if I was any good with phones. He was trying to open a picture message his granddaughter had sent him.
After I got Sienna settled in her pram, I looked at his phone. It was a really old Nokia, not a smartphone. I told him he wouldn’t be able to open the photo on it. He looked really disappointed and told me it was a picture of his granddaughter and her new baby. He hadn’t seen them yet because they live in Buxton.
So, I sent the message to my phone and managed to open the photo. When he saw the picture, he got really emotional. You could see how much he loved them just by the look in his eyes.
He really wanted to give me £20 to buy my daughter a toy to say thank you. I told him I didn’t want it, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer. So instead, I asked him to wait there while I went to Boots. I printed the photo for him and even bought a frame.
When I gave him the framed photo, he was so happy. He looked truly touched.
This small moment really made my day, just knowing I helped bring someone a bit of joy.
