“This may just look like a parking ticket, but it actually represents the best interaction of my day today.
Another lady and I were both pulling into the same car park and as we’ve both realized what was happening, I gave her a reassuring smile and wave, and I pulled out to let her have the parking spot.
Next we both wander over to the parking ticket meter and the lady told me she felt so bad for taking the spot… and of course I told her not to be silly and that it was no problem at all. She seemed to think this was such a kind act, but to me it was a no brainer. Then she paid it forward.
As she was in front of me at the parking meter, she proceeded to purchase her parking ticket, and then put more coins in the meter advising me ‘I’ve paid for your parking. Thank you’.
It may seem like an insignificant turn of events, but in 10 minutes we two strangers were able to show and express mutual respect and kindness, and both walked away with huge smiles on our faces. I’m still smiling.
