Six-year-old Hayden and his family had just moved into a new house, and for the first time, Hayden got his very own bedroom. But instead of being excited, Hayden felt really anxious and scared. He was afraid that bad guys might sneak into his room at night, so he refused to sleep there.
He begged his parnts to call the police or a doctor to help him feel safe. As a last try, his parents brought him to the police station to speak with an officer. That’s when Officer Schwartz from the Eldridge Police Department stepped in. He took time out of his day to go to Hayden’s house and carefully check the whole room with him, showing Hayden that there was nowhere for bad guys to hide.
Hayden’s parents said that since then, he has started sleeping better in his room.
The next morning, Officer Schwartz even stopped by to check in on Hayden and take a few photos with him on his first day of school. A small act of kindness that made a big difference.
Well done, Officer Schwartz. Well done.
