Rowan was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia at just 18 years old. Now, he needs your help to find a stem cell donor who could save his life.
“A stem cell donation is amazing—it could truly save his life. So many people are in need of this kind of transplant,” says Rowan’s mum, Bronwyn.
In 2024, Rowan had just begun his university studies, training to become a physiotherapist and looking forward to his future. But everything changed in September 2024 when he was given the life-changing news that he had blood cancer.
Since then, Rowan has gone through months of strong chemotherapy. Sadly, the treatment hasn’t worked as well as hoped, and now Rowan’s only chance is a stem cell transplant. Since there is no perfect match in his family, Rowan is depending on the stem cell register to find someone.
Rowan’s mum, Bronwyn, explains: “His brothers and sisters are only 50% matches, but we really need a full match for the best chance of success. Because Rowan has Chinese heritage on his mum’s side and Scottish and English heritage on his dad’s side, someone who is Eurasian is most likely to be the best possible match.”
