Paul McCartney’s relationship with Julian Lennon can be understood better by looking at how both Paul and John viewed children. Paul grew up with a brother he was very close to, and he came from a big family with lots of cousins. His love and care for Heather Eastman, Linda’s daughter, was clear from the start of his relationship with Linda and has continued ever since. On the other hand, John had a different experience. He was raised as an only child and didn’t receive much love from his aunt, and he only saw his half-sisters occasionally. Before his son Sean was born, John didn’t seem to think much about children.
Now, if you didn’t know any of these people and were to guess who the father of the child might be, based on their history, you might say Paul.
In recent years, when Yoko Ono was planning to sell John’s personal belongings, like letters and drawings Julian had given to John as a child, Julian wanted to keep them. He asked Yoko if he could have them, but she said he could buy them at auction. Worried about losing these precious items, Julian turned to his “Uncle Paul” for help, and Paul generously gave him the money to buy them.
