One Brave Kid
11-year-old Braydon Smith was home alone in his room when a burglar broke in through the front door. The burglar told Braydon to go into a closet and started taking things from the house. Braydon remembered his dad’s advice to “fight back” if someone tried to break in, so he decided to do just that. “He pointed a pellet gun at me that was in our house. I knew it wasn’t loaded, so I just sat down and went into my closet like he told me. He went to the living room to take my phone so I couldn’t call 911.”
But the burglar made a mistake. When he turned his back to put Braydon’s phone away, Braydon grabbed a machete he had nearby and hit the burglar on the head. The burglar ran away but was caught later at a hospital. “I knew if I didn’t do anything, he might have taken me with him… he could have done anything,” Braydon told a reporter.
After it was all over, Braydon’s biggest worry was if he could still make it to his baseball game!
