On this day, one year ago, I held my newest baby grand daughter until her tiny body went cold. My daughter and the baby were doing very well when they checked into a small government funded hospital in SW Oklahoma. Bad decisions were made by the medical professionals. The placenta ruptured and massive bleeding occurred. The hospital has an insane policy that allows the delivering doctor to monitor the delivery process from home if they live within five minutes of the facility. It took the doctor 45 minutes to arrive at the hospital to perform the critical Emergency C Section.

ALWAYS advocate for yourselves. Make sure that birth will occur at a hospital that has a doctor IN the facility during labor and delivery.

Warn expectant mothers of this danger. Advise them to make informed choices. Infant and maternal mortality rates are rising sharply in the United States.

I am blessed that my daughter survived. Little Sequoyah was the miracle that God had shockingly blessed us with 18 years after doctors told my daughter that her first child would be her only child.

If you have experienced something like this, please, reach out to me. This horrific malpractice by antipathy needs to change and together we can make this change.
