On January 6 shortly after JetBlue

On January 6, shortly after JetBlue flight 1721 took off for Jamaica, an elderly woman began to have difficulty breathing. A nearby nurse immediately offered assistance, but her efforts were not enough. That’s when Matthew, a partner of John, recognized the gravity of the situation and intervened. He quickly alerted John as the woman lost consciousness.

Together, the two men utilized the plane’s oxygen tanks and air bags to provide the necessary support to keep her alive. For 45 minutes, they administered oxygen in the aisle while the flight headed for an emergency landing in Fort Lauderdale, following the guidance they gave to the crew.

Witnessing my husband and his friend act so decisively was both frightening and impressive. They are trained to save lives, but experiencing it firsthand was deeply moving. What struck me the most was the outpouring of support and prayers from those around us during the ordeal.

It served as a powerful reminder that, at our core, we are all human. When someone’s life is at risk, we unite because every life is precious to all of us.
