On February26, the bodies of 95-year-old Gene Hackman, his wife, Betsy Arakawa and their dog were found deceased in their $3.8 million home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Everyone wondered what could have happened to the couple and their dog. In a recent development, authorities revealed their findings after thorough investigation.
The investigation showed that Betsy lost her life first, most likely on February 11. The autopsy showed she had contracted a rare form of rat-borne disease, Hanta Virus Pulmonary Syndrome.
Following her passing, Hackman who had an advanced Alzheimer’s lived with the decomposing body of his wife for about a week before losing his life due to lack of care. It’s possible he had no idea his wife was gone due to his advanced illness.
Similarly, their dog which was found in a kennel lost its life due to lack of care.
