“In 1971, I unfortunately stepped on a land mine in Vietnam, which resulted in losing both legs above the knee. For the past two years, I’ve been waiting to receive a new wheelchair from the Veterans Administration, and I’ve been informed that I’m not eligible for a spare wheelchair.
On July 7th, while shopping at Lowe’s Home Improvement Center on Forest Avenue in Mariners Harbor, my wheelchair broke down again. Fortunately, three wonderful employees—David, Marcus, and Souleyman—quickly came to my aid. They helped me into another chair and got right to work on my wheelchair.
They took it apart, replaced the broken parts, and assured me, “We’re going to make this chair like new.” I was able to leave about 45 minutes after closing hours in a wheelchair that felt brand new. I couldn’t stop thanking them, and all they said was, ‘It was our honor.’
The kindness and dedication of these three employees at Lowe’s truly impressed me. They stepped up without hesitation, didn’t ask any questions, and didn’t waste time on paperwork or phone calls. They simply recognized someone in need and felt privileged to help.”
