If bad luck had a different name

If bad luck had a different name, it should be Richard Jones.

Richard is just an average man with a job, a wife, and children. One day, he’s arrested by the police and found guilty of an armed robbery. Even though he says he’s innocent, he is sentenced to 20 years in prison. There are cameras and witnesses that seem to prove he’s guilty.

Years later, Richard is moved to another prison, and unbelievably, he meets a man who looks exactly like him. This man’s name is also Richard, but his last name is Amos. They look so much alike that even the other prisoners and police often confuse the two.

It turns out that the real robber, the person who should have been in prison, was the other Richard, not Richard Jones.

After spending 19 years in prison, Richard Jones is finally released. He then asks the state for $1.2 million in damages for all the time he spent wrongfully imprisoned. That amount is the least they can do for him.
