How hard has anatomy hit you in the 1st year of an MBBS?
Hello reader….
Writing an answer after many days for you guys.
“Anatomy” – I heard this word in my college during puc. My lecturers used to motivate us by showing the pictures of our seniors holding heart who got admitted into med school . At that time I thought it would be easy thing when you get into medical college. But I was wrong.
I remember my 1st day at Dissection hall. Everyone was looking at the cadaver with mixed emotions of happiness, anxiety , fear. Then our HOD sir gave us introduction about anatomy and told “It is the only subject where the dead teaches the living.” I felt so true at that moment.
Then gradually we began to understand the subject though we could retain what we have read. Then seeing those structures in the cadaver and explaining it to the others gave confidence. All thanks to our beloved professors for making it interesting. Their efforts to explain the things like anterior abdominal wall, all the layers of peritoneum, organs etc helped us to sail through our 1st year.
Then during the viva, we used to experience the hell of hell when the professors used to ask question that we have not even heard. Those sleepless nights during exams, discussing bones, muscle attachments with your friends, cursing anatomy, worrying about embryology and histology……Ahhh these things doesn’t stop .
The moment when you realize that your anatomy exam is over…..can’t be explained in words. I literally danced during my 3rd internals after completing anatomy practicals.
Answer writing in theory exams is a bit different. You have to memorize and practice all the important diagrams even though you don’t read the writing part in it coz no one reads your answers. The diagram should be self explanatory. This is what our seniors told us. Even if you don’t know the answer, write and draw something related to it. It will fetch you good marks.
Remember don’t bring anatomy to your room for studying. Complete that day’s topic in the dissection hall itself.
Mandatory pic of the HEART❤
