After I dropped off a food order after 6 PM, I got a bit worried about the lady inside—hoping she was okay and not hurt or anything worse.
I decided to check with the neighbor to see if he’d seen her recently. He suggested I just ring the doorbell. Then, another dasher showed up with more food, and I asked her to ring the doorbell too since she seemed concerned as well.
While I was helping the neighbor get his cat back inside, the elderly lady finally came to the door. I explained my concern and mentioned the neighbor had asked about her. We were both worried about the food and groceries that had been sitting outside all day, possibly even all night.
The lady had a cane and was wearing a dirty nightgown. We offered to help her bring the stuff inside and let her know about the food we had just delivered, but we thought she might need to throw away the other food.
What do you think? It might be a good idea for her to update her drop-off instructions to include ringing the bell. I’m not sure if she doesn’t realize when the food arrives or if she just forgets.
I’m really relieved she was okay, but it’s still not ideal to leave food and groceries out on the porch for so long.
