A British General had sent some soldiers to fight during the Falkland Island Crisis. After they returned to England, three soldiers who had done well in battle were called to the General’s office.
The General said, “Since we weren’t technically at war, I can’t give out medals. But we want to show our appreciation for your hard work. So, we’ve decided to let each of you pick two points on your body. We’ll give you two pounds for every inch of distance between those points. Let’s start with you, soldier.”
Soldier 1 said, “From the tip of my head to my toes, sir!”
The General measured and said, “That’s 70 inches, which is 140 pounds.”
Soldier 2 said, “From the tip of one outstretched finger to the tip of the other, sir!”
The General measured and said, “That’s 72 inches, so 144 pounds.”
Soldier 3 said, “From the palm of my hand to the tip of my left pinky, sir!”
The General started measuring, but then he stopped. “Wait! Where’s your left pinky?”
Soldier 3 smiled and said, “It’s in the Falkland Islands, sir!”
