I ate dinner tonight in front

“I ate dinner tonight in front of two Fort Worth police officers, but let me explain why it was significant.

Four days ago on Friday night, two of their brothers were shot and taken to the hospital. Then, two months ago, five policemen from Dallas Police Department, the next biggest department across the county, were killed.

I purposefully sat behind these cops tonight, putting myself in between them and the entrance. They joked and laughed and enjoyed their time together while I sat and ate my supper (I felt compelled to include that since some people forget that police officers are regular people just like you and me)

After I finished eating, I sat there and watched both departures silently. I waited to go till after they had.

I was unarmed and silently observed their six, but I would have been more than willing to give up my life to save theirs if someone had attempted to murder them.

Sounds absurd, does not it? For whom would you give your life for strangers?

Have you ever given it any thought that this is what police officers do on a daily basis?

These men are not Marines, but they know what it is like to serve their country, their community, and the people they love. For that, they are my brothers, and I will watch over them in the same manner that they look over me. I am a United States Marine, and I know what brotherhood is.

Green has your six, Blue, enjoy your dinner.”
