A woman who took her husband’s life to gain his wealth was hit with a shocking surprise when she learned he had already moved his money into a trust.
Kouri Richins, a 33-year-old widow and mother of three, had written a children’s book to help her sons cope with grief after their father’s sudden death.

Now, just months after the book came out, she has been charged with murdering her husband. Authorities say she poisoned his Moscow Mule cocktail with five times the deadly amount of fentanyl.
Kouri was supposed to inherit his $3.6 million estate after his death, as outlined in their prenuptial agreement. According to the prenup, almost everything he owned would go to Kouri if he died.
But Eric, afraid that his wife might harm him for the money, quietly moved his assets into a trust. He placed his sister in charge of it, cutting Kouri out of direct access.
