While waiting in line to pay

While waiting in line to pay for groceries and keeping a 6-foot distance, a man suddenly stepped in and cut the line. It didn’t seem like he noticed what he had done.

The person he had skipped didn’t say a word. They just stayed where they were, keeping the right distance.

When the man reached the front to pay, he checked his back pocket and pulled out a small notepad. He had forgotten his wallet.

He looked a bit upset and embarrassed. Then, the person he had cut in front of stepped forward and told the cashier they would pay for his groceries. All he had was milk and chocolate chip cookies.

The man was surprised and very thankful. He gave a kind thank you and left.

When the skipped person got to the register, the cashier asked, “He cut in front of you and you still paid for his groceries… Why?”

They smiled and gently said, “I hope that if my dad ever forgets his wallet, someone will help him and buy his milk and cookies.”

With everything going on in the world, this seemed like a good moment to share.

Kindness doesn’t have to be big to matter. One small act can make a big difference. Why not pass it on?
