This is my 14-year-old daughter. On our way home, she noticed a young elementary school-aged boy sitting alone under a tree in a shopping center. Immediately, she said, “It’s too hot, Mom. Stop the car!”
She got out and gently asked the boy where his parents were. He quietly replied, “I don’t know.”
She asked if he could call them, and he said he only had his father’s number. She handed him her phone so he could call his dad, stepping a little distance away so he wouldn’t feel frightened or pressured.
After the call, she told him to move away from the street and stand in front of the Rite Aid instead, explaining that it was safer there. If anything made him uncomfortable, he could go inside the store.
Then she turned to me and said, “Mom, let’s wait until his dad comes to get him. And if it takes too long, I might need to get him some water.”
In that moment, I felt something powerful as a mother. It reminded me why I will never let anyone make me doubt myself as a parent. My daughter showed compassion, leadership, courage, and love. She proved that I’m raising children who are thoughtful, caring, and ready to make a positive difference in the world—true queens and kings. 👑👑
