In April 1981, the body of a young white woman was found in a ditch along Greenlee Road in Newton Township, Ohio. She was wearing a buckskin poncho, so police started calling her the Buckskin Girl.
That same afternoon, her body was examined by a medical expert. They found that she had been badly beaten on her head and neck, and then strangled to death about two days before she was found.
Police worked hard to figure out who she was, but for more than 30 years, the Buckskin Girl’s identity remained a mystery.

Then, on April 9, 2018, the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab announced they had finally learned her name.
She was 21-year-old Marcia Lenore King from Little Rock, Arkansas.
Her family hadn’t seen her since 1980. Even though she was never officially listed as a missing person, her family had never stopped looking for her.

The breakthrough came thanks to advanced DNA testing.
Sadly, no one knows yet who killed her.
