Brenda was just 15 years old when something terrible happened in 1979. One morning, she took her father’s rifle and started shooting from her house balcony. Her house was right next to the school she went to.
She shot at people in the schoolyard, killing the school principal and a security guard. She also hurt nine others, including some of her classmates.
The police talked to her for hours, trying to get her to stop. Finally, they were able to get inside the house after offering her a hamburger.
When they asked her why she did it, she answered calmly, “I don’t like Mondays. They’re boring. I just wanted to make the day more interesting.”
Now, Brenda is over 50 years old and still in prison. Judges have not allowed her to be released on parole. They believe she could still be a danger to others.
