What is the most embarrassing thing that happened to you during a doctor’s exam?
Not me, but a man in his early fifties with a broken hip.
He suffered from a rare case of young-onset dementia, and had no idea what he was doing in the hospital. He obstructed the medical exams, refused to have X-rays taken (but gave in in the end), and had to be told time and again that he was in a hospital. To which the man replied again and again, in anger:
“There is NOTHING WRONG with me !!”
[The condition of his memory was so bad that he even forgot about the pain as soon as he stopped moving and gesturing.]
The nurses tried to explain that he needed to stay still, and wait in bed until he would be wheeled into the OR to have his broken hip fixed. Upon which the patient started screaming again “that there was NOTHING WRONG with him, and that he was leaving ASAP.”
And then he jumped off the bed.
